Impressionist Birch Tree Landscape
Lesson Objective:

Language Objective:
I will learn about color by using watercolors mixing primary and secondary colors.
I will learn about pattern by repeating shapes, colors, and lines in the trees and snowflakes on the sky.
Materials: Glue, crayons, scissors, and collage paper.

Engage: Take quiz on color.

Explore: Look at Claude Monet's birch trees landscape called the Magpie. Talk about what you see.
Explain: Explain how to create birch trees. https://safesha.re/3hyd
Elaborate: Create the birch trees using collage and crayons.
Cut out the trees glue them onto the sky. https://safesha.re/3hyf
Add patterns to the sky with crayons making circles, spirals, and stars.
Evaluate: Don't add your picture until you find out day two's directions. Add your artwork to artsonia create an artist statement.

Instructional Plan:

Explore: Review what we created in our landscapes last week.
Explain: Explain how to create a cardinal in your landscape. https://safesha.re/3hyg
Elaborate: Using a red circle create a cardinal by dividing the circle in half.
Students then cut one half into 1/4 and one 1/4 into 1/8th.
Following the video students create a tale, head, and wings on their cardinal.
using a yellow or orange paper students cut a triangle for a beak.
When their cardinal is finished students add their bird onto their landscape.
